First part of April actually it was April 1st, Pop came and got me to come have a look at this beauty. She was hanging out on the side of his shed. So, of course the nature lover I am I had to start taking pictures. So, I did I took a lot of them of her. I would come out and check on her she hung out over night. The next morning I checked her first thing and she was gone from the wall. (Don't forget any of the pictures you can click on and blow them up) Pose for your close up
I have never seen one of these before...anybody know what they are it's big appx 5"
But, I found her on the ground...not doing well...and several birds after her...then I noticed
all of these where she had been on the wall...wow, I wouldn't have bother her..she was in labor for crying out loud and I had a camera up her butt...dammit how rude. She had her eggs then laid down to die...how sad...I tried to keep her safe..but she disappeared!
but it didn't stop me from taking pictures every day...and I did...

as you can see they change..but I won't make you suffer with all 200 pictures ;-)
I can tell it's getting close...although this is my first moth labor witnessing!
They were born today 4-27 ...what ever they are
they are crawling up the wall..some are already at the top...
you got to blow this up and see how weird looking it is this dude tripled his size when he fell off the wall...don't worry I put him back on the wall. They reacted to me ... investigating them...they weren't happy...

I didn't touch them they might sting me
I am guessing they all grow up to be like mom...or the dad...
I enjoyed watching the nature process...was worried a bird would eat the eggs..now I am worried something is going to eat these little babies...but it's out of my control, but I did enjoy it :-)
Tuesday update they are still going up the wall. If they change their appearance on the wall, fear not I will make ya'll suffer some more with the updated pictures :-)

ummm...Darsden. That is a BUG. And those are BUG BABIES.
GROSS!
Bugs should neither be seen nor heard, and probably should be stepped upon if they come into the house -- NOT PHOTOGRAPHED.
I don't even KNOW you!
lol @ michel.. I am also a nature lover. I only kill cockroaches blech
I took a picture of an awesome looking moth the other night. I found out later s/he is a White Lined Sphinx
That is one beautiful moth!
I've never seen one look so pretty.
I also never knew their babies start out like that.
LOL@Michel
You can also write Jess Riley at Riley's Ramblings, on my sidebar. She raises butterflies and is a nature lover like you.
Michel-U Know me Biotch...I am now going to tell mama on you. You keep pretending your not my sister and I am going gladly hand over my title of red headed step child to you...Hell, where you are living that would be a delicacie to eat! Better than that whiskey cake you keep trying to eat. In fact I am going grow these lil boogers and send them to you with hot sauce
dizzblnd-thankyou for seeing the beauty of my post..unlike "some one in sudan" You need to post the picture of the one you took a picture of. I just haven't ever seen one this big.
Suzy-great to see you my dear, and I will check her out, thank you for telling me about her.
Tabitha-thank you honey...oops didn't go in order..don't know how that happened other than it would be Michel's fault. I didn't know that's how they turned out either. The pictures are really deceiving...they have a bunch of legs and spokie things sticking out of them.. I am training them to respond to the name Michel...going to see if I can train them like pigeons...just to do fly bys around her head...LOL
I hate moths. They are the most disgusting bug. Don't they know that only mammals are supposed to have fur? BLECH.
I seriously have a strong aversion to these things - and am quite grossed out about it . . . it's good though that you're enjoying the Circle of Life
That is SO COOL!! I'm a weirdo nature lover, too, though I don't hesitate to kill cockroaches or find someone to murder a snake. And I do enjoy armadillo or opossum road kill. Spiders, however? They get a gentle ride on a magazine to the front yard.
EB-dang I didn't know there were so many moth haters...I thought I was making a lovely post about nature.. bunch of killers around here today! Gods creatures EB :-)
Susan-cool beans glad to hear somebody liked my lil moth. I don't kill anything! Snakes I don't mess with unless they are in my house.. that has happened..freak the crap out me. I made pop come over and get it, also the one that was blocking me from getting outside. I don't like to kill because 1 they are living creature and 2 the damn Karma that will come back and bite my ass is sooo much worse! I catch flies by hand and release them outside..OH yes I do..
EB I hear you snickering!
bugs are good... feed for birds, and other critters :P lol
laughingwolf-grrr I mean Welcome and thankyou so much for joining the side bar over there. I appreciate it...
Okay yes I know it is the cycle of life.. this bug was eaten by my mockingbird! Happy LOL ;-)
Well should support fellow fairy wing-ed critters. but the moth things both me, with their dusty deposits and they seem a bit more like bugs than fairy butterfly-ey things! However, if they make you feel they are OK, I support you and them!
Flutterby!
Tink-thanks for the support..LOL but I guess I won't be doing anymore nature moth postings! I just new the dedication I showed by taking the progress of the cycle of life...would be interesting..but only to a few...LOL
How cool to photograph and post a nature process...i love it ;)
You should see if you can get a gig on the Nature channel. I like this kind of stuff. I, however, add a lot of *make-believe* conversations to the mix.
One of my favorite quotes (there are like a bazillion) is: The butterfly (we could substitute moth here) counts not months but moments, and has time enough.
Well, I happen to like this post. But I'm a nature lover, too.
It's a shame you can't follow atleast one of them to the crisalis (i.e. spelling????)
Then it would be full circle!
I have never seen moth eggs. we do have a lot of strange bugs around here in VT too though.
Braja- thankyou very much
Beth-That would totally Rock-I would have to have you as my side kick so we could get those conversations in with all the bazillionw bugs we would be dealing with...LOL
Becky-thankyou too very much...Me and you two peas in a pod when it comes to nature. I would love to see the full circle!
Heidi-first for me too, I have seen more strange creatures since after hurricane katrina. I have no idea where some of them came from...but I know they aren't originally from the coast of Mississippi!
Thanks everybody for your comments :-)
I am amazed by nature all the time. I love it!
