Believe it or not...
last Thursday there was a guy sitting at the exit ramp from the interstate with a sign that read...homeless and hungry. I ran up to the Flying J and bought him some lunch and stopped and gave it to him on the way back.
He was very nice, but you know he never said thank you. Makes me wonder if he was disappointed I didn't hand him cash. I always wonder about those people, I've heard bad stories.
Anyway, I know he didn't go hungry that day.
Becky-bless your heart for helping honey! Least he got a good meal that day. He didn't thank you But I will thank you for helping. That was awesome and you will get your reward!
Ok, my cats do some really wild things, but I have never seen them strike quite that pose.

My mom was always against giving money in case they spent it on alcohol. She used to pack them lunches (sandwich, fruit, juice box) and have them in her car....I'm waay too lazy to do that, but I used to buy McDonalds Gift Certs for people when I was in DC.
You'd be surprised how many people were really unhappy with that option.
Michel-you crack me up...just when I think there is something sweet coming YOU snap me back to reality...LOL That is awesome to give the gift of food. (it's true alot want the money for alcohol but I can't help but think at least they won't be hungry if they get a lil food. Good for you in DC... WTF happened to you in Sudan...LOL sorry can't help myself! but you are going on me kinda like a fungus but none the less I feel ya deeply :-)
I'm with Michel - I will walk into a nearby store and give food before I give cash. I'll only give cash as a last resort because I fear they will spend it on drugs and alcohol, or that they're totally scamming me and they make more money pan-handling than I do working.
BTW, that is the most dramatic kitty I've ever seen!

That cat is dead, has been pounded between sheets of wax paper in anticipation of being breaded and fried and served with a half gallon of sweet tea to the man and the dog. Everybody's happy!
