I remember when I was five we lived with my grandparents. My mother and my 2 siblings shared a huge bedroom. One night we were all sleeping and I woke up to hearing footsteps above my head and totally confused to why.
 I was five (1965) and this is still so vivid to this day.

I also think that is when my unbelievable hearing kicked in I still have it today.

I woke my mother up  and she jumped up and went and got my grandfather. I could hear him fussing and the whole time wondering what is going on. I was hearing footsteps ...on the roof. Why the folks were moving faster than anything I had ever seen. I just sat in bed  listening, watching, being quiet and fearing.

Then I remember my grandfather just bolting out thru the back door
in his jockey whites...with his shotgun...that gun that was always in the corner.

Yelling "you son of a bitch" trying to break in my house...
You better say your prayers....

 that was my first real introduction to a gun and what it was really for.

Protection of ones family.

I had always seen that gun in corner of papas room. Never tried to touch it or bother with it. But I tell you  I never forgot how thankful I was for it that night.

I was five

Now my grandfather did not shoot that person. He was saying the whole time to his wife " Katie I shot above him" he won't be back but he will need some new drawers' he was more about teaching a lesson to the person than harming him. He also added if I wanted to kill him I could have..he just needed scaring.

That is just how it has always been here in my little home town. I grew up with pick up trucks with the shot guns in the rack in the window. We didn't worry about somebody even breaking in to steal them. When you went to visit others there were guns in their corners too. We were taught to respect the gun. A lot of families hunted for food for their families with those guns. They didn't have money to go buy meat back then and some still do for needed food.

I too have a gun in my corner and desk and....I have protection all over.

Guns haven't changed that much...they still only respond when asked too... it's the times that have changed and more importantly it is the people that have changed. They now want what you have but they are willing to steal it instead of working or paying for it. Their solution to quick and easy and
they don't mind hurting somebody in the process. 
Or a loss soul with no hope for lack of not knowing Jesus or having any foundation of belief...
just hate within themselves to lash out at others so viciously.

Taking the guns out of responsible people is not the solution. We actually need to put guns into the hands of the ones in authority that care for our most precious of precious and that is our kids!!! I believe and have since the first school shootings that armed guards should be at every school.  Find the way to put it in the budget, that is the most valuable thing there...your child...!

If the principal had a way to defend once that idiot started breaking into the school this whole situation would have turned out a lot better. There still may have been several lost...but I doubt as many children.

We had our idiot show up to one of our schools down here in Mississippi, our principal met him him after the second discharge of his gun...with his gun....he is now serving life. Two teenagers were lost but there would have been more had the one in authority at the school not had his gun.

Guns don't kill on their own...people kill on their own

Cigarettes kill more people daily than guns...
so dose second hand smoke..

DUI kill more people

Prayers for all that loss a love one in Newtown, CT
Prayers for our Nation we have to find a way to protect our kids!

I still feel this way.

There have been so many shootings since Newtown...

We have to have protection for the children.
Unfortunately it takes someone with a gun to stop someone with a gun!!!
 The places that have the strictest gun laws are the most deadliest cities.
Guns aren't evil, people are evil. 
Be it with a gun, knife, bomb, car or with their very hands.
Disarmed citizens by their government never work out....check the history books.

LATE

I am so ready for spring to come on and spring. It's not like we have had a winter at all this year but I am so over the cloudy rainy blah days around here. I am ready to open the pool and have some fun with the kids. Amazing how fast the time flies...
till the grass isn't green anymore then it stops.

Miss Em was selected Queen for the Valentines Day Sweetheart Dance. What an honor it was for her she was chosen by the teachers of her school. So excited for her and picking out her special dress.  I picked her up from school and went to surprise her with Grammie showing up  to tell her all about their shopping trip and what that evenings plans were...Oh my the eyes on that child :-)

I was so excited for her. Then I feel in love with this lil dude...we both want his number for her in the future. Oh my goodness lots of heartbreaks coming from this one...LOL

It was quiet after Em left to go dance the night away so I made me this

Okay so I will play along, YOU guys know I have pictures, cause I am not a writer I am a picture poster. My picture is of sweet baby girl Ella. She is my great niece and I miss her and the rest of my babies so much. They use to all be just around the corner from me. Long Stories LOL.. Ella's family consist of her, 2 brothers 5 and 3 she is almost 2 and mom & dad (dad is my nephew by my sister). They live here about 10 miles from me I spent just about everyday with them. Then Katrina hit..blew everything away and dad's job. They tried to hang on but you can't without a job. So, they got a job offer in Destin, Florida, not a problem I use to live over there for almost 12 years I still have friends there and it's only 3 hours away.

Well, that lasted not quite a year then the economy collapsed along with yet another job for dad. It was terrible to hear of this yet again happening to a wonderful man. Katrina, did a job on us all around here and now he is losing yet another job. The stress he felt... I could feel... Very close family we are. So, finding another job has taking him to Virginia, which is wonderful he found a job but at the same time broke my heart, (still broken) because that is over 15 hours away. NOT do-able for dar all the time. Now her babies are going up waaaaay far away. The kids use to spend their summers with me at dardar camp. The camp has been empty this summer! Yes, these are posted pictures of camp dardar too, and the fun time we had.

Ya'll might remember my summer vacation pictures of me and the folks trekking up to Virginia. If you didn't see them.. Geaux see them now..LOL

NO, the story is not over yet... I have more babies that were here and causality of the economy my sister's daughter and her husband..remember their wedding pictures are posted...Geaux see them too. But, they were here about 6 miles from me..then the economy..I tell you people casino's are no place to consider your self having a job..because they get rid of people left and right they got all my family members and several friends. Any way my other 2 great nieces are now living about 3 hours away in Alabama. NOT as bad but still far away. Emoree, is 4 and Sophia was just born 2 weeks ago. Yes, pictures posted and I shouldn't have to keep telling you to geaux look at them. I only have 161 post..not that hard to catch up on...there pictures ..people !

So, there you go... I have 5 great nieces and nephews that I am not around anymore. It makes me extremely sad.

My brother has 2 adult kids 18 and 21 and they live 4 hours away...I miss them too!

Yes, I know their lives have changed too...but my world collasped when the babies left !

Sticker project

I have been missing the kids so bad since they all moved out of town. So, I decided I needed to come up with a happy for them all and kids love stickers. So before I went to Virginia to see three of them I whipped up a sticker book for each of them to take with me. This way I could write each of them and send stickers to them ... via the old fashion way.. the post office. I have been trying to do it weekly but sometimes it turns into two weeks...key word "try" for weekly! I just took some 3 ring binders, punched holes in a lot of construction paper, plus put the circle tabs on both side of all the holes..the kids are all under 5 so they needed to be tough. Printed pictures off my computer for each front and back. Added some pictures and stickers to start.

West is into nascar, Jeff Gordon is his favorite... he is 5

I put pictures of us in each kids book, along with postcards and blank pages to add to

Travis is 3 and he got scooby doo and mickey mouse on the binder for him

They really get excited getting their individual letters and stickers from me. They have a place now to put the stickers instead of all over the house and toys. The books were a big hit with the kids but also a big hit for the mothers :-) I was excited they really enjoyed putting the stickers in the book and look forward each time to adding more to them.

what the blank pages are like to add pictures and stickers toI also put clear page protectors in there for the letters and any other stuff they get that they want to collect in their sticker book.

Needless to say I am pretty sticker poor these days...but it is so much fun sending them lil happys that I know they are very excited to get. They call me and thank me for them and always say...dardar could you send me some more next time LOL. West, will also tell me if he talks to me that he didn't get any mail with his name on it today or stickers.. :-))

Well, see I do a few other things besides just taking pictures of flowers :-)

My Summer Vacation part 1

Home Away from home for the week with my lil family. Very enjoyable time and may I point out it flew by like it was a McBreakfast Club meeting. I didn't get enough babies time. I loved waking up to West sneaking in my room for his mornings with dardar..our lil time together, just before everybody else wakes up. He is growing up so fast. They all are, it had only been five months since they made the major move, but boy could I see the changing in my lil man growing up. York State River Park
It was a beautiful day in the park and the park was beautiful but I didn't take a lot of pictures.

Mr. Baxter, how Rudey wouldn't get along with this cutie he was a sweetie too, he loves those kids. Always playing with them he is 8 months old and full of puppy. So, guessing Rudey dog being closer to 12 years than months...makes her a little bit of a maxine...lol

On The Road Again, Dar & Derfina...!!!

Music Suggestion: Willie Nelson On the Road Again!

On the road again with my best friend Derfina. It is an early morning as I have a plan to go suprise my nephew and his family. My great nephew West who is 5, had a Christmas program at his school scheduled for 12:30 pm on Wednesday, in Sandestin, Florida, appx. 3 1/2 hours away. I had to first stop by Escatawpa, Ms and pick up Ms thang..(derfina) Oh, yeah I called an hour before hand to make sure she had scooped all the poop she needed too before we got under way, no later than 8. Actually got on the road a few minutes early so we took advantage when we got into Navarre, Fl we stopped and ate at (hand over heart in omege') the waffle house... then preceeded on to the other side of Destin, almost to Panama City. We rang the bell at the fams house...Richard my nephew opened the door to Derfina standing there...mind you he hasn't seen her in at least 25 years...he said (with a I think ..do I know you...) can I help you...then I peek around and he about dieds...then the wife Jennifer came out to see who was all over her man...that would be Derfina...because by then I had a monkey named Travis on me (3) and Ms Ella, heading for me who just turned one in Oct. I have been jonesing for my babies big time this is the longest I have gone without seeing them...right at 6 weeks now. We visited for a short while then we were off to go suprise my lil man West (5)...who got so choaked up when he first saw me...everybody had a tear...(them babies love them sum'dardar) Dardar loves them babies...enough to fly through the fog to ensure not to miss one minute of the whole 10 minute program...rotflmao...love,love,love them babies.!! We had a wonderful lunch at Fudpuckers...we were puc-ked'...then back on the road by 3:30 pm because what --do I see rolling in but the fog again and we cross many of bridges to get here and it only gets worse the more you head into Derfina country...!!! The Whip...I mean car...how harmless this lil thang is...!!!
It's only a V6 with a chipped up engine....Bam!!!

Mini Destin Vacation

Good Morning...Yeah, heading out to Destin, Florida today to go play with the kids.Destin is just a lil over 3 hours away. Rudey (my dog) and I are in the process of packing. West, has a halloween parade he wants me to attend. Should be very cute, put on by the 4 and 5 year olds. Then there is halloween on Friday and the kids want me to go with them...I will for a little while then I see me and babygirl Ella (just turned 1) heading back to the house to pass out ....Candy that is... The weather should be just perfect for trick or treating...lil nip in the air is just right.
Planning on catching up with my girlfriends for a birthday celebration on Thursday night. One of the lil nurses needs a pick me up....so 3 of us are going to do just that. Okay, a bit boring...yes, but maybe I will come back with some better juice...
Have a safe halloween everybody...this lil girl needs to go get some candy...tootles
