Meet Heureux

Meet Mr. Heureux, why do I call him that you say... Because he is very lucky my big ole' fat foot didn't squish him last night. I bopping out to make sure the deer had food a little after nine, when I almost stepped on this little dude. At first I thought it was a frog, then a leaf.
As I bent down to see for sure what I almost killed I saw this little guy.
As always you can click to enlarge
I have never had one that needed rescue at night before.
I brought him inside the bathroom with some juice.
He was hanging on for dear life, wouldn't get off my hand or fingers.
After juicing him up by hold his lil head to the juice I went and put him on the tree limb above the juice.
I checked on him till I went to bed. Up at six and out side he was still hanging on
He flew off as I was leaving for the breakfast club.
It was a beautiful day here today :-)
my latest project why I was mia

What an adorable little bird and what a friend he has in you!

Oh my gosh! He is beautiful. Do you think he hit and window and was a bit stunned? So glad to hear he was able to fly away.

Now that is absolutely amazing. Who knew one could be a Mockingbird Charmer? It could only be you!

Otin-spoken from a true southern boy

Pop and Ice-thank you he is a hummingbird

Lorac-yes he is beautiful, that is all I can figure is something stunned him. Happy when he flew off.

One Nurse-Thank you very much I appreciate you kind words.

I am laughing so hard right now!!! Dar, I was thinking the same thing when I read the Pastors comment. Surly she knew it was a humming bird???

Anyway. . .I am so glad you didn't step on it or make stew for Otin out of it!!! How beautiful he is!!! Was he hurt or just wanting to make a friend? Pretty amazing!!! It must have been your gentle spirit that made him feel safe enough to hang with your for the night.

A mockingbird???

You know. . . I have these spells where I get real dizzy and mean to say one thing and say something different. . . . Reckon that's cause I'm from the south too?

I really knew it was a hummingbird. . . I just typed mockingbird and it didn't even look wrong when I did it. . . honest. . . yikes!

We call that "word-salad" at the home.

PS don't you be letting them make you feel funny, honey... I'm from the south, too, and I know about word salad...

Dar those little ones feel like you're almost holding air... We were at a friends one time and a hummer flew into her garden room and couldn't find his way out. I was able to catch him and snuggled him and talked bird talk to him until he quit trembling. I took him back out on the deck and sat his tiny heinie on the feeder. He sat, took a sip and then took off. Attitude was like "I did that on purpose because I like being cuddled."

It was awesome!

Beautiful bird and beautiful yard!

JUICE!?!?!?! You gave the bird juice? What a great idea! I would never have thought of that. I'd have been pulling grass or bugs for the bird, but juice would have never crossed my mind! Brilliant! I have tons of humming birds at our house, I'll be on the lookout!

I had one baby fly right next to me and land in the street where I was crossing. Of course I started SCREAMING for someone to come help me and these Arabs who live next door thought I was crazy and wouldn't help me. And then my friend Johnny, who lives across the street comes up silently behind me, gently picks up the hummingbird and says "We have 8 feederd, I'll take him." And later he told me that he did the exact same thing you did.
