Sunday Blessings

Happy Sunday Everybody! This here is our persimmon tree. It is loaded this year.
The most persimmons I have ever seen on this lil ole tree.
they are big ones too this year
have to keep a close eye out for them so I can pick them before my deer do
:-) they about ate them all last year
This coffee pot is from a lil ole Lady Mrs. West, I use to take care of shortly after high school. She gave me her favorite coffee pot! Yes, I still have it, it still works great and I still use it for special occasions or just when I want to have a cup of coffee with her. The date on the bottom of this Westbend coffee pot is 1963 !
I decided I would spend the day with Clara B. West, and have some persimmon bread with her.
The coffee is from Hawaii, a former boss of mine gave me, so it's special too
My mom, had gathered up some persimmons and said she was making some bread. I asked her if I could have a whole loaf to myself (yes that's the ugly brat rearing her head up and saying It's all about Me) my wish was granted...Yay.. here is what is left of my loaf of persimmon bread...
LOL didn't take long to inhale it at all.
It also has pecans in it..yummie
Glad I had a lil left when I realized Hey I could blog about bread, Otin has to love bread...
it's eatable after all
It's not flowers but a fruit I think he would like it...LOL
Yes, this is me pretending to slice to share with others... NOT, I ate the whole darn thing.
"Can't believe I ate the whole thing" yes I can, warmed up with butter to boot!
I am a simple girl, doesn't take a lot to make me happy. Sometimes it's a simple as a cup of coffee with an ole friend or memory of a loss, friend, wonderful older person or getting my own loaf of persimmon bread.
OR having a friend make a special post about me...WOW, Pastor Sharon out did herself on this one.

"Lagniappe"
My First HomeMade Movie (bear with the sound imperfections it gets better as it goes)
Hope you enjoy it
Yes you have to watch it
yes you too Otin
Have Your Sound on
(braja you are excused my dear)

I don't even know what a persimmon tastes like but it sounds like it might be more sour than sweet?

BTW, your property is so gorgeous, where do you live? Tara?

GirlFriend... Ya done GOOD!!! Great movie.

Aren't persimmons real sour until after the first frost?

Thanks for sharing the bread and your coffee pot story. I graduated from high school the year it was made...

xoxox

darsden said...

Suzy-actually not sour at all kinda sweet, never tried it by it's self so you know now I am going to bite the next one so I can give you an actual account to apple vs orange kind of thing.
Honey, it's not Tara (although I did bust out laughing) this is my parents place, I live in the mole hole in the back yard. I am just the tender that tends to them and the yard.

Reddirt Woman-thank you kindly ma'am I appreciate that. First Frost around here the beach...paleeze that would be January LOL..if then and there will be none left from the deer. In fact we don't let them turn all the way red on the tree we put them in the window to turn them ...yes cuz of the deer.

Helen do you have a stamp on your booty too that says that..LMAO

Great video! Is that Willie and Kenny singing?
You gotta get me that recipe. I've got a LOADED persimmon tree and have no idea what to do with them. They aren't ready yet, but soon. I'm hoping I can get some before the deer steal them all, too.

darsden said...

You will get the second advance copy..what.. you kNOW I am el number one O. Yes, the deer love them too that is why we will pull them off and window sit them to ripen.

sweet story for a lazy Sunday. That bread looks delish...even though I know nothing about Persimmons...what are they like??

darsden said...

Joanna Jenkins-thank you very much I appreciate you watching it. I hadn't either till about 10 years ago. Now all I want is that bread!

JoJo-thank you very much. It is delish! I have never just bitten one. But, I asked my mom and she said the skin of it would pucker my mouth, so I am guessing you skin it to eat the sweet stuff..lol I am going to bite the next one available and I will give an update on it.

I don't know what a persimmon is either, but I thought they'd be darker. I have some Fiesta Ware plates that are persimmon and they are a bright orange color... yours looked more yellowy maybe?

darsden said...

rxBambi-they are yellow orange on the tree before they ripen to a bright redish color and soften to the touch. Very good bread!

darsden said...

I think I need to do a re do of this post when I can answer the questions I am posting about...LMAO

Oh I haven't had a persimmon anything in years. My grandmother had one at her farm and would make a spicy bread that was good. You are always up to something fun. Keep it up.

you'll be a video pro in no time grrrl! I got a bush out here that something yellow grows on and the birds like it, but its extremely bitter. It's not persimmon, i can't think of what it is, anyway, the bread looks delicious! I love simple pleasures myself, and good tunes! LOL

Liz Wilkey (a.k.a. A Mom on Spin) said...

Persimmons. . . Do they grow them in Jersey??? 'Cause we're like the Garden State, you know. . .

darsden said...

Libby-I can't say the bread is spicy although I would love that. My mom doesn't do anything "spicy". But I want to find out if you can preserve them like you do other fruits. They only come around once a year and we have such a good crop this year of them it would be nice to can them.

A mom on spin-I don't know if they grow up there...do they? LOL might be too cold up there, don't really know much about them...I just blog about them. LMAO

darsden said...

Bella-oops skipped right over you my dear I am so sorry. Thank you kindly for coming to visit. Are they suppanons.. lil about the size of a quarter?

darsden said...

Amy-trust me when I say this..If I eat it anybody will eat it. I am even pickier than Mikey! You would like it, it's kinda like banana bread without banana's LOL very good not real sweet. Thank you, I think I need more memory in my laptop to keep it from messing up on the songs though.

Slacker you don't have time to write don't have time to farm... hummmm Hope you have a great Work Week girl, hope it's back to normal for you.

When I first started reading, my less-than-stellar eyesight told me you had written "permission tree" and I was all about asking for some permissions! In fact, I'll take a whole bushel!

And the bread looked yummy. Nice vid with a beautiful song.

darsden said...

Fragrant Liar-LOL I would see you wanting the whole bushel. It was good and thank you very much for watching it. Grueling I know like watching home movies as a kid!
