Feeling California

Mississippi Skies reflecting the trama in California

Their fires are their hurricanes

but they can't hunker down like we can
they have no where to hunker down that is safe
this almost looks like a watercolor the way the colors blend
my heart is heavy for the people and animals at risk
prayers for all who are dealing with these fires

These were shot in my back yard in Gulfport, Ms

It's so terribly frightening, isn't it? Nature can be so beautiful and cruel at the same time.

darsden said...

blueviolet-yes it can and this is horrible I would be so scared out there. Where do you run from Fire?

KC said...

Be safe California. Dar - once again, mesmerizing photos.

It is so horrible for them. Every year like we deal with the hurricanes, they deal with the wild fires. I'll take the hurricanes anyday. Prayers go out to Californians.

darsden said...

KC-thank you and yes prayers to Ca.

Fishing Guy-yes thank you..were going to be my Skywatch Friday...but they have changed the rules LOL...oh well.

Becca's Dirt-yes it must be horrible and I too would rather the hurricanes than fires. Prayers continue thank you.

We are small in the face of Nature. My heart goes out to everyone who has lost a home.

darsden said...

Juli Ryan-yes we are just a mere speck compared to the force of Nature. Thank you for coming by.

beautiful colors...love the silhouette of trees.

You truly are right! You cannot stay put during a fire. It is not a good thing during a hurricane either, but most times you end up ok!

darsden said...

luna miranda-welcome and thank you very much.

otin-yes we can run in advance from the hurricane or if you are us..board up and hunker down. But Fires...a whole different ball game there. Thanks

beautiful pics again Dar! it is tragic the fires that rampage the hills of California damaging property and affecting both human and animal lives. This seems to happen every year there.

Michel said...

It is so sweet of california to light itself on fire so that you can have some cool pics.

James said...

Wonderful pictures, I was born and raised in southern California so I know all too well how these fires can be. I pray that the fires will soon be put out.

darsden said...

Bella-thank you and yes so tragic. They face them like we face hurricanes every year. Wish they could invent some kind of retardent for the fires!

Michel-OMG that is so not the way it went down..you always spin me round! This was actually my birthday sky..LOL I lit the candles up..a tribute to Cali, not a wish!!!

James-How nice to see you here. Thank you and com'on back anytime. Yes, that must really be horrible to have to witness or endure. Could not and would not want to know on a personal level.

Becky said...

I am hoping that the rain from that hurricane will put those fires out.

darsden said...

LV-thank you, it is very sad!

Susan-thank you, thank you very much I appreciate it.

Beth-thank you, I wouldn't want to have to deal with them I think they are so scary!

Even though I'm not close to them, all the skies from Hollywood down to the ocean (east to west) are ashen. Plus it's in the 90's every day. And we haven't had any rain this year. I love firefighters.

blognut said...

Gorgeous pictures Dar.

The California fires are awful, I can't imagine what that must be like for them.

darsden said...

Suzy-I imagine it's all over California. I hate it for those who have lost their homes and all the animals, it's horrible!

Blognut-thank you they were shot on my birthday...go figure.. It's tragic for some people in California!

Brian Miller said...

hey there...way late...love the pics though, they do have a watercolor look to them. my heart goes out to the firefighters...my grandfather was one for many years.

hooray said...

I'm in Pasadena, and yes, it is awful. Ash hangs heavily in the air. It is hard to breathe and the smoke makes it seem like we are living in an ash tray. I'm right in the heart of the San Gabriel Valley, and while I'm far enough inland not to be evacuated, I am close enough to see the flames burning.

Gorgeous photos.

Pray for our firefighters!

Pseudo said...

Oh I did not know about the fires. I need to turn on the news.

Beautiful shots Dar.

These are gorgeous photos Dar - you have a real eye for it. Nature is both scary and beautiful at the same time. Having lived through bushfires its very frightening. Fingers crossed all will be well. Our fire fighters usually go over there ot help and those in California hlep us out in our summer. Amazing people that they are.

Regina said...

Awesome shots!
Love the song.

darsden said...

Brian Miller-thank you and yes firefighters rule! It is horrible 2 were lost and it was intentionally set! Hope they catch and fry them for it. Brian you weren't late at all.

She-Welcome, WOW, that is pretty close if you can see the flames and smell the ash. I hope and Pray they catch the idiot that started it! Thank you and I am praying for all.

PHST-I hope you are feeling better my friend. Yes, it's horrible 2 firefighters lost and some idiot started it. Thank you my birthday sunset.

Lilly-Lovely Lilly so good to see you. Fire scares me to death. I did think of you Lilly when I heard this on the news! Thank you these were my birthday sunset shots.

Regina-welcome, and thank you very much. I love CeCe and so glad you enjoy it too.

Thanks for your beautiful shots and sentiments. My skywatch photo shows a similar color of sky, but it's due to a fire 20 miles away (I'm in northern California).

I hadn't heard about the fires - scary but amazing colours!

Margo said...

nice shots - frightening and dramatic. Have you noticed that the weather before big storms often looks like this? Maybe it's just me :)

Beautiful sky shots and this just shows how beautiful your heart is. (no matter what Otin and Michel say) LOL

darsden said...

Pat-thank you and 20 miles is just way too close for comfort!

overtiredmum-they are very scary just came back from you blog too!

Margo-thank you, very scary. Yes, I have noticed and I believe we did get storms shortly after. Shot some more shots last night of more rolling in.

Smart Mouth Broad-thank you very kindly I appreciate it.. I am making it hard on anybody to give me lip service these days LOL :-)

gorgeous pics as always! My thoughts and prayers are with those in LA too. I can't believe someone purposefully set it. It just can't fathom the sick mind of the individual(s) responsible.

darsden said...

dizzblnd-thank you and I couldn't agree more that is one sick individual and needs to be set on fire themselves..by ole' sparky

Hi Dar, What stunning photos, I think people don't realize how beautiful Mississippi really is between the bad storms. I am a Mississippi girl as well, born and bred in Hattiesburg. I have family all over the state and cousins living in Gulfport. Small world. Have a lovely and relaxing weekend. Jeanne
