Mrs. Harriett "Hattie" Broadus, 102, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 15, 2009, after a brief illness. ( Seriously I really wouldn't want to catch that...it killed her for petes sake...not the fact she was 102)
Born in 1907 in Perkinston, Mississippi, Hattie first came to Gulfport in 1930 to work at the old Edgewater Resort Hotel where she established many lifelong friendships. Shortly after arrival she joined the Gulfport First Baptist Church and remained an active and dedicated member for the rest of her life. (we were members of the pool, at the old Edgewater, beautiful place it was. It was a hugh ordeal around here when they blew it up with dynamite. I still remember it, my mother has a scapebook about it. Most of the citizens were against the blowing of it up...to build a mall!)

I really am not making fun or lite of the fact that Mrs. Hattie died, in fact just the opposite. To dream that long...could you imagine :-) rest in peace hattie
