Okay I did extensive research before I made my purchase to make sure it was durable for what I wanted it for. It has exceeded all expectation. I RULE in the Aunt world. First bloom of Mr. Lincoln this year and boy does he smell lovely. All the little buds are starting to bud out. Sure hope we don't get another freeze. The plum tree has more blooms on it than I have seen in years! I am ready for Spring! It's been a hard winter in the South and I know it has been hard on my Northern friends too. Meet the new and improved Mr. Janzee, he is the cats meow! Yes, he is all that and more. Just a little over two weeks now he has gone through some major adjustments. From a wild eyed lil cry baby to a now loveable titty baby gone re-wild but mo'better. I have successful re-entered him back outside but protected at night away from the coyotes, foxes and all other meanies. He has moved into the old greenhouse and he is in heaven because during the day he is allowed to play outside unsupervised! However he has decide he should be like Rudey and just follow me everywhere. I am proud how far he has come with just a lil love.

Yes, there are home movies and pictures to suffer thru.

He has all kinds of places to explore & climb

OMG - What Is That Smell

After sliding around 14 acres on my belly trying to catch this little dude. I Wanted to induce you all to the newest member of the family. This is Janzee, he gets his name from my humane society calendar for the month of January. I prayed for help to be able to catch him and chose his name before I caught him. Thought the name would work both ways. He has never been around humans and I figure he is 10 to 12 weeks old. It took me 4 days crawling around this place. I even busted my head open...finally I was about to give up (not really I never give up with it comes to animals) I was cooking spaghetti in the kitchen with my door open. I could hear him crying just starving for attention (not food I took care of that) he would cry, I would cry, this went on for about an hour. I looked and he was sitting right outside the door, so I would cry, he would cry, slowly he inched his way in. I never moved from the stove...he kept getting closer and closer ..then he ducked under my desk. I jumped slammed the door close...the rest is history as they say....and then tore him up with some dar loving...
He is better known as SirShitsAlot...Been a long time since I had a little kitty, NOW I know Why! He is spoiled rotten already! First thing I did was take him to my vet and get him "fixed" so there will be no lil Janzee's running around. Hopefully when the weather turns nice he will be moving outside and then protected at night in the greenhouse. I cannot continue inside with him as I have developed allergies to him LOL plus that issue of SirShitsAlot! OMG!! Stinkolas

He would have frozen outside as little as he is. It has been pretty brutal down here weather wise too. We have had some record lows and never mind all the coyotes after him. He was hiding under pops shed and something had been digging for him. So happy I caught him so I can get him use to humans. He doesn't mind Rudey at all... but Rudey isn't to keen on sharing yet!! Rudey is showing her age she has always loved kitties but she's has health issues so not so much anymore.
Okay so you all should be totally bored by now... and caught up....

I am doing my best to protect Rudey (that resembles a hairy hot dog...) Cannot leave her unattended anymore she is trying to track these critters. (That attitude of hers would get her in trouble big time...she ain't as big as she thinks she is!!!)

How cute are they, I have watch them play, they play just like kids. They chase each other, they annoy mom as much as possible. Which is funny to watch her re-act by acting like she was going to give chase.It is really wonderful to be able to witness nature up close and personal like this.

My Sister treated me well for my big five OMG birthday. We went to his play Medea's Big Happy Family. He is a gift from God I tell you. He can put some messages out there. I sat here this morning reflecting those five years ago... I hear at 7 am on that forever life changing morning... (a hand shaking me) Get Up, Get UP.. it's here... my mother insisting I get up...why mom...she says "I have already had my coffee and a xanex and you need to get up and be with me and watch this... I told Bob, to get up too" "how you two can be sleeping at a time like this is beyond me... I got up laughing and saying okay mom.....OMG!

This is one of the most empowering picture I have ever seen. I am here to speak some truths. Today I am reflecing on the 5th anniversary of hurricane Katrina. I am pulling out the biggest box I can stand on. I Want to make sure You All hear ME loud and Clear. Hurricane Katrina, hit Mississippi, it wiped out my entire coastline of Mississippi and several blocks deep. Along with my friends in Alabama... New Orleans was a LEVY break after hurricane Katrina came to Mississippi!!! New Orleans was dropped by our government on a humanistic level. I feel for all the people of New Orleans, for having to endure what they did on that human level. But for the LOVE of God, Get the facts straight. All that is heard is how bad New Orleans got hit by Katrina!!! UHMMMMM step the hell over a few miles and take a look at Mississippi that is ground zero. New Orleans had homes left to start with ... for re-building... we didn't even have the sidewalks left in Mississippi. WE STILL don't!!! Why because everybody except for Robin Roberts is in Fucking New Orleans...STILL!!! (stop don't leave yet keep reading because it's almost over)

Bottom Line it's not just New Orleans people...President Obama is visiting New Orleans because he thinks that is ground zero...and you wonder why I am shaking with him being my President!

Wayne Brown should be in jail for not responding and worrying about what shirt he should wear that makes his fat ass look skinnier. WB there are no shirts or pants that will do that for your self absorbed ass. Beside you can't fix ugly...That was in excusable for leaving all the people of New Orleans to die in the streets.

We can as a Nation mobilize to run the hell to Hatti in hours, fly across seas to a tsunami disaster...to find out we can't drop water to a State in America to keep Americans from dying... People should be doing jail time!!!

Mississippi, has always been overlooked because we are too busy re-building for ourselves and not running in front of the camera saying what are you going to give us....We are busy getting it and doing it on our own. But this is and will always be ground zero no matter what spin is put on it.. LIKE us discovering America...uhmmmm the Natives were here first. wonder what the history books will say about Katrina!

Never would have believed my mother would not be here for this anniversary. Which is also, the 5th anniversary of my mother losing her mother. We buried my grandmother Friday before the Monday of Katrina! Hurricane Katrina, doesn't even compare to losing...losing that big...my Mom!!!

I was having a really bad day last week. I was really upset thinking about how much has changed...since one little woman's passing. My Mom, wow how just her being around made all the difference. I am so lost right now without her. Like I said I was really having a bad day. So, I started talking to her like I always do. I told her I was really upset and I thought I could really use a rainbow about now. I needed to know that my dad was going to be okay. That things would be okay. I hadn't seen one in a few years now, so I could really use one right about now Mom.

I went back to playing on the internet. Then about 20 minutes later the color outside turned so funky color. It was shinning through my door. It was almost glowing. I had to get up and check it out. Checking around and then I almost passed out when I looked to the East.....
There she was in all her glory just as requested sent by a mother's love through her father!

It was actually a double one you can barely make out the second arch but it's there.

I called my niece that lives about 6 miles away and told her the story and she stepped outside and she too could see the double rainbow...we were both so speechless it made us giddy.

So, after seeing my double rainbow I turned to the South to catch this picture...

Looks like hands were reaching out to me...I see hands...!!!

So, I know she hears me. She makes her presents known all the time around here. The beauty in the flowers and plants around here isn't cuz I am taking that good of care of them. I am doing my best, but I know I am being helped all the time from above. It isn't getting any easier right now, actually harder. Time seems to drag minute by minute I feel every second of the day without her. Then I go I can't believe it has been 224 day an eternity already...but still so fresh!

If I could only have 5 more minutes, what I would tell her!!!

I miss this sweet face so much!!!!

O'dette, bloomed for the first time this year and WOW did she ever bloom. She bloomed in very rare multiple blooms. Absolutely breath taking. The smell is heavenly. I about had a fit when I walked outside and saw she had so many. Really enjoyed staying up late to catch a few pictures. Night Orchids only bloom at night (hence the name) they start to open around 9 pm here central time. They get to be plate size around midnight. There were a total of 12 and 10 have opened never has she had so many at the same time just lovely. But everything this year is very prolific. I would love to be able to bottle the smell and have them all the time. As always you can click one or two times and the picture when increase in size for you.

The brief history of O'dette is, she is named in honor of my mothers friend that she pinched a piece of this night orchid off from. Back in 1997, shortly after doing so. O'dette passed away from cancer. So, mama honored her and all her friends in this fashion. Like the Hazel, roses I refer to. History all over the ponderosa, by mama just pinching this and that from here and there and look at all the beauty everywhere!!! Our Virginia, vacation which was exactly this time last year. Mom and Pop, did a little pinching in the mountains and yep...you all will be seeing those lovely flowers too...they are blooming here and there all over here :-)) How blessed was I to be able to go on a family vacation with them last year.....

Who knew how special it would really turn out to be for me!

It is hard to really capture all the beauty with my little digital camera in the dark!

A Mother's Love

A mother's Love is always felt. But, YOU never really know the depths of a mother's love till you lose her. Here I thought I was a miss know it all. Don't get me wrong I know and knew a lot ... but mother's always have a way of surprising their children. This is by no means an ordinary box. Frame in this beautiful magnolia box is hidden treasure for a daughter to discover.

The discovery of what my mother found upon her mothers passing five days before hurricane Katrina. She had kept (mind you through hurricane Camille where they lost everything) my mothers report cards from growing up all the way to her diploma. She had discovered many things about her mom after her passing ... As I have discovered in mine.

Here are all my "important" growing up pictures... right down to my birth announcement .. (that I had just recently inquired about the hour I was born and she laughed and said she thought it was at a early hour of the morning) Little did I know..but she did ..she had my announcement.

This about blew me away...Mom has kept every card her three kids and pop has given her. I am still finding little pods of cards everywhere. Unbelievable and how special to know she separated them and in doing so I know she re-read all the love we had and still have for her. These are all of mine to her... I know she read how much she meant to me and how much I loved her-Wow!!!

Another unbelievable surprise is this letter. It is written from my bestest friend in the world he passed away unexpectedly back in March of 1993. He and my mom had just the best un-son but son mom relationship. (he is deeply missed daily too) He wrote her a letter back in 1991 and she kept it...not because of him...but because of me and how special he was to me...big WoW!

There were many awards and acclamations she had received while she was a working woman I didn't ever know about. There were first place awards for dolls and the doll clothes she had made I didn't know about. Cake decoration awards...I knew about those...she made great cakes.

Through Moms Window / I am Nobody Special

I had my friend Barbara make this stain glass Rose, for mom's rose room den.

It was by her computer area.

Notice her collage of her love ones all around her.

I made this picture and this title back on July 23, 2009. My plan was to write a post about the woman beyond this window, my mom. I was letting it simmer in my brain so I could do her justice because I just couldn't throw any words out there, they had to really show her in the truest form. (one reason because she would be reading it and my goodness it had better be right by her! second she deserves all the praise I can shout out about her)

Well, as most of you know I lost my beautiful mother on January 5th of this year. So, now I sit to try to breathe without the air that filled my lungs for 49 years. To try to tell you all just how wonderful she was, how she sacificed raising 3 kids alone. (insert I harbour NO, resentment for the Tom Jackson who along with my mother created me but split when I was 6 months old and I have never laid eyes on him...but hey thanks... we had mom to ourselves and didn't need anything from you either to survive!)

but really seriously how do people have kids and just never see or talk to them ever???

So needless to say this story has taking a horrible left turn on me. My biggest fear was losing my mom, I had know idea it would be this soon and so unexpected.

Monday the 4th we went and ran some errands, about lunch time she said she felt like she might be getting a cold. I go panic mode because she did have a weak immune system and the last thing she needed was a cold. So, we started precautions. I talked to her at 8:38 that evening and told her I hope felt better and she wasn't getting real sick, don't over medicate, get some rest and call me if she needed anything.

Phone rang Tuesday morning at 7:44 am ..it's pops cell phone...

instant panic not a good sign

I flew across the yard, flew pass pop opening the door, flew into moms room.

I tried CPR even though I knew it was too late, I dialed 911 in total shock...

Then I called my sister....

then my brother....

I am nobody special

I know I am nobody "special" or rare...people lose their mom and dad every day.

I am nobody special

However my Mom was a very special and rare person. She was my best friend, We were always together. My siblings are 4 and 5 years older than me not a big deal now but when your younger it is. So, I was a little longer leaving moms. (insert did ya ever leave-uhmmm a couple of years)Then 7 years ago I moved into her and pops back yard How blessed was I. In all my years I never recall my mother raising her voice in anger to me or to anyone. She always had a smile, a laugh and a song in her heart.

So far 2010 is roaring in... 1/5/2010 mom, 1/17/2010 mom and pops 30th wedding anniversary, 1/24/2010 would have been my moms 72nd birthday.

I also lost a dear friend on 1/7/2010

I am nobody special

She was my sister and brother's best friend too

we are not special

She was Everybody's best friend, that is who KK was.

My biggest fear in life was my fear of losing my mom. I am meeting that fear head on. (really what choice do I have) I am nobody special. I was blessed to have her for 49 wonderful years. Others have felt that loss much more earlier than 49 years. I have so many memories packed in for those wonderful 49 years! So blessed am I!!!

I made this post title back in July to pay a different and another tribute to KK because she was somebody that special. But I had no clue she would not be around to enjoy it. Because KK was special and she was all about all the attention being directed her way...because she was funny and comical that way and special. Thank goodness she made us take a Gazillion pictures of her! Seriously if there is one photo album, not counting what we the kids have, she has well over 300 hundred of them! No, YOU don't want me to prove it!

I am nobody special, but to my Mom, I was special and she always made me feel like I was somebody really special. (and not because I ride the short bus)

Hello, everybody, I am soooooo sorry I am still missing in action. I can't seem to get my grove back. I have been running around getting my little presents for Christmas. Finished my decorating what little I was doing this year. Scaled down big time just put a few must haves. But, I didn't even get a tree this year. I have just gone with one of my purchased sequin tree instead of getting all 500 ornaments out. Hope everybody is doing well. A Year Ago And a LONG A** POST

I started blogging a year ago...wow, hard to believe it has been that long. That I have made 197 post since then. I struggle here trying to write (I know so not me) about my experience so far. I was first on the scene just being a reader for a few months. Hanging out at derfina's at life in the river. Reading her post and reading the comments and following the links. She really opened a whole new world for me. Who is this person derfina some of you may be asking ... we go all the way back to 10 grade. So, we have been through many travels together through the valleys and peeks of mountains...( just metaphors for life lessons)! So, a big shout of to derfina, for starting her blog which started me reading....and changed how I spend my alone time!

The weather has been absolutely beautiful. I have been taking advantage of the beautiful days too in the yard. I got all but two of the hibiscus replanted in larger pots. I also moved them into the green house for the winter.

Enjoy some Island tunes will you fly over the island

Welcome to Turks & Caico's Islands to be exact Providenciales Island the smallest island in the Turks and Caico chain of islands. The last islands in the Bahamas. It is approximately 10 miles long and from three to five miles wide. I knew it like the back of my hand. Talk about a trip of a life time that was dumped into my lap and I was all to happy to accept it. My sister is a surgical nurse and she, her boss and friends designed this diving trip to Turks. At the last moment one of the doctors cancelled. Dr. D. my sister's boss, said dude it's too late NO Refund! He still couldn't go. So, I happened to be in between jobs and my sister called me and said, give me your credit card number...whaaaat! Give me your credit card number I am booking you a flight for a vacation...oooookkkkkkk I guess. Well looky looky what the cost of an airplane ticket for 335.00 round trip bought...all that was left to buy was food and all the fun and souvieniers I could tote back in my suitcase. We had 9 nights on the island, 2 jeeps to use also... I made out like a bandit. The whole trip only cost me less than 800 bucks including airfare..Yea, Babe' enjoy

This whole house was ours there were...8 of us...each had our own bedroom, bathroom and balcony.

This is the view of me sitting on the banks after snorkeling by myself because they were all diving.. NO, problem except for that ten foot shark that came up under me and scared the crap out of me. I flew out of the water to view this lovely sailboat... contemplating if I was going to go back in the water. I decide if the shark wanted the redheaded seal bobbing in the water he would have already got me. So, I went back in with the attitude of If I am going to die, least it will be in paradise :-) My sister would have never known what happened to me it he had eaten me...she's thought I had run off with Mr. Arthur Dean...
because I had stated I was going to do that.

Sunday's on the island is a big deal all the local islanders walk to church.

I stapped this of the 3 sisters going to church in their matching dresses all proud.

Dr. D owned a restaurant over there so he had been there several times before. This is back in 1996 before Hollywood found the island. You can't get on there anymore. But back then we reggae danced with Ollie and Noreese who own the conch shack on the beach. We were the first visitor's to their house EVER! Noreese took us in and showed us her house the one room so full of pride with what she had. (WE really are all so blessed compared to how others live) She had a one eye burner, (not stove) running water, limited electricity no a/c. No a/c used at our house either YOU can't afford it. But you do adjust. She had a futon but beamed with pride.

Noreese and Ollie taught us how to play domino's we never came close to beating them - they just laughed.

You can see how narrow it gets in parts.
I drove all over this island while the rest were out.
The hardest part was remembering to drive on the wrong side of the road.

This concludes your trip with me to the Turks and Caico's Island, hope you enjoyed it. I know I did. I didn't want to come home. In fact I found 2 jobs over there and wasn't coming back. But, my sister put her foot down and said I was coming back if she had to stuff me in a duffel bag. Because she wasn't going to tell mama her favorite baby girl wouldn't come home from the island. I am still mad to the day I didn't stay!

Meet Mr. Heureux, why do I call him that you say... Because he is very lucky my big ole' fat foot didn't squish him last night. I bopping out to make sure the deer had food a little after nine, when I almost stepped on this little dude. At first I thought it was a frog, then a leaf.

As I bent down to see for sure what I almost killed I saw this little guy.

I have never had one that needed rescue at night before.
I brought him inside the bathroom with some juice.

He was hanging on for dear life, wouldn't get off my hand or fingers.
After juicing him up by hold his lil head to the juice I went and put him on the tree limb above the juice.
I checked on him till I went to bed. Up at six and out side he was still hanging on
He flew off as I was leaving for the breakfast club.

It was a beautiful day here today :-)

Meals On Wheels

This is one of my favorite toys I got last year for Christmas. I love it, you would not believe how handy this lil wagon is. I use it all over the Ponderosa. Haul all kinds of things with it.
But my most favorite thing to do with it is

Turn it into Meals on Wheels for Mom and Pop :-) I like to cook for them. But I do not have a table for all of us to sit at in the mole hole so I do the cooking in the mole hole and then haul over to their house to eat it. Mom, says when she sees me getting my wagon and putting a towel down in the bottom of it. (nope not for sanitary purposes..but so that my wagon doesn't get scatched LOL) That they are about to get something delicious to eat. Yesterday was that day for meals on wheels on the ponderosa.

For this meal I am preparing some rice

It is Red Beans & Rice today folks, with 2 links of Hillshire Farm sausage and half a honey baked ham in there. It's so good (YES, I know I am the cook - but child have you seen a picture of me.. I am an excellent cook) I sometimes throw some chicken breast in there too but I left the chicken out this time and went more ham.

It was a delicious meal (yes me still tooting my own horn)and very enjoyable with the folks.

Yes and notice Brat here gets the best view for eating too :-)

This coffee pot is from a lil ole Lady Mrs. West, I use to take care of shortly after high school. She gave me her favorite coffee pot! Yes, I still have it, it still works great and I still use it for special occasions or just when I want to have a cup of coffee with her. The date on the bottom of this Westbend coffee pot is 1963 !

I decided I would spend the day with Clara B. West, and have some persimmon bread with her.
The coffee is from Hawaii, a former boss of mine gave me, so it's special too

My mom, had gathered up some persimmons and said she was making some bread. I asked her if I could have a whole loaf to myself (yes that's the ugly brat rearing her head up and saying It's all about Me) my wish was granted...Yay.. here is what is left of my loaf of persimmon bread...
LOL didn't take long to inhale it at all.

It also has pecans in it..yummie

Glad I had a lil left when I realized Hey I could blog about bread, Otin has to love bread...

It's not flowers but a fruit I think he would like it...LOL

Yes, this is me pretending to slice to share with others... NOT, I ate the whole darn thing.
"Can't believe I ate the whole thing" yes I can, warmed up with butter to boot!

I am a simple girl, doesn't take a lot to make me happy. Sometimes it's a simple as a cup of coffee with an ole friend or memory of a loss, friend, wonderful older person or getting my own loaf of persimmon bread.
OR having a friend make a special post about me...WOW, Pastor Sharon out did herself on this one.

The weather has just been absolutely beautiful, I can almost feel fall coming around the corner. I have really been taking advantage of the nice weather too. Been working in the yard doing some cleanings and stuff.

This is where I have been spending the absolutely beautiful days

Good Morning Everybody. Hope you all are having a great Saturday. We are under the normal skies around here. Rudey is medicated already so she is gone for the day as for me. I have been out and about with my handy dandy camera and thought I would share a few with my friends today. These were shot yesterday.

Sorry everybody I know I have been missing in action. But, the weather around here for the last couple of days has been beautiful. Went through a couple of bad storms to get to the beauty. That was okay because I used that time to clean the inside..bottom to top...it's all squeaky clean. So, then we had these beautiful sun lit days we haven't had so I decide to spend as much time outside enjoying God's creations! Absolutely Beautiful. The weather is just on the verge of turning for us. Humidity is going down some. Which means you can go out and enjoy the day and evenings and still be able to breathe. So, I have been taking advantage of them lately.

Humming bird plants are all in bloom and the hummers are buzzing all around

those lil boogers don't stay still she's hiding on the other side now

Even the bugs that eat our beautiful flowers are happy and say thank you to us -

by eating it.. in a heart shape- It's really Nice to be appreciated!

I will try to be by and visit you all, miss you all, but really have enjoyed taking advantage of some good weather around here. You all Know how many storms have pass through so Rudey is really loving it too.

West was cheezing...poor dad
My Lil Buddy West, turns six today. It is really hard to believe how fast time is going. I know it's even harder to understand for everybody to know all that has transpired in a short amount of time. To sum up the whirlwind. West was born in Destin, Florida...Job cuts brought them to Mississippi in my neighborhood. Then Katrina hit, jobs again sent them back to Destin, enter job cuts again and they are up in Virginia and this all happened with in four short years. In between the times of being here and in Destin, West, spent A LOT of time with dar dar so she is really missing all the babies!!
But really misses her best buddy "pumpkin" really big time especially on his birthday!

Staying at the Sandestin Beach Hilton, January 2006 With the Bourland Zoo. I believe I was keeping the two boys and letting the parents have an adult night out. We use to be able to do that a lot when they lived here and in Destin. This was shortly after Hurricane Katrina. Went over to relax and take a break from the mess. It had made a bad,bad mess and changed everybody I knew...changed their lives and their locations!
